PROJECT MEETING IN NÎMES, April 2006

Lycée Technologique Dhuoda

French pupils on strike against an unpopular reform (CPE)

French people

Our first impression of French people was really good. In their families the pupils seemed to be very shy and obeyed their parents all the time , but as we arrived at school they changed their rolls completely. They made fun and jokes all the time but all together they were very helpful and really interested in things the other pupils did.
All the families embraced us with open arms and we felt as we were part of their families.
The only thing that was a bit strange for some of us was that we were on a school with 95% of boys. So when we went over the school-yard a lot! of boys walked and shouted behind us ... but we guess that would have done each boys from each country ;-)

Impressions of the meeting

Last meeting was very great; I liked it so much that I was so sorry to come back home!!
Like the other foreign partners, the French were very friendly; the made us enjoy very much .
The presentations of all countries were very interesting ,too. In general this experience was unforgettable and I hope I' ll get in touch with everybody.

March the 29th 2006...the trip begins...way to Nimes! We arrived to Nîmes at night and we were really tired after being 8 h. in the train..3 fantastic days in France began for us!
The families that received us were very nice. They made us feel like at home. The first days was the day of showing our work to the others. Though it was a bit difficult to speak in English, it was very interesting seeing the work of the rest of the countries, specially the theatre of the Germans...it was very amusing!
Nîmes is a nice city and I liked very much "Les arenes" and the "Pont du Gard" wich is really enormous! And the food was delicious!!!! But for me the best thing of the meeting was the people! I could meet a lot of friendly, kind and crazy people...everybody danced in a pub...it was really funny!!
It´s really wanderful to meet people in a short period of time and know that you will never forget them.

The presentations

Our impressions of the presentations of the topic “Best of..” were very different. All presentations were mostly well done.
The Spanish partners did two very different presentations, the first one was a very interesting collage of photo-impressions of all the meetings, showing the nice atmosphere and the good human relationships of the “Comenius-family”.
The second presentation of Spainwas a questionnaire about the current political situation and our opinion about this. The Spanish people tried to explain it to us, but we didn’t know what to do with it. And we didn’t understand the connection between the strike in France and our topic “Best of …”.
The Hungarian people made a movie about their best presentations. They showed a lot of impressions of their school and interesting short clips of their former presentations, but sometimes the sound of the movie was not very good.
The French people worked once more on our topic of the last period. “Visions of the future” They dealt with the aspect of technical progress and did a very good lecture about two important bridges: Pont du Gard and Milau Bridge with a quiz and they showed many pictures.
The Italian people did a Powerpoint Presentation with many pictures of the different meetings. The presentation was nice and Nino did a good job as a host. He was very relaxed.
Now we come to the German presentation. We did a role-play about the different welcomes to the countries, prejudices and the presentationelements. We hope that the others enjoyed it and had lots of fun to watch it.

COMENIUS MEETING IN HANAU, December 05

We liked that so many pupils came from other countries and were so nice, friendly, wonderful and motivated. We didn’t think that it will be so fantastic. We were really surprised. The project was very interesting and it was amazing which wonderful presentations the other school had prepared. They had so great ideas. It is cool that we got to know new people. We think its great to be a part of this.

It was very interesting to see the different presentations and to learn something new about other countries in Europe. We saw how different the visions of the future in different countries, from different pupils are. We liked the presentations from Spain and Hungary very much, because they weren't boring: We like their movies, especially the one from Hungary with the nice song and the dance.
But we also like the movie from Spain: It was very, very good and very professional!!!
The presentation from Italy was good, but we are sad, that we didn’t understand very much: It was too difficult…
The quiz from France was very funny and we learned much from the role play from Germany.
The presentation from the Swedish school was very interesting, too and we are looking forward to the project with Sweden: Hej!!!!! Or Hej då!
Yesterday, it was a nice day: We were at the Christmas-market in Hanau with our Italian Partners. So we had a lot of fun!

The first things we thought when we arrived was just this: “how can they live with this cold?”…the second thing was: “what do they use to eat?”…these are the most important things for Italian people: the weather and the food, for boys there is also the interest for foreign girls (but Stefania wants to underline that is the same also for the girls in fact this is the only argument she is talking about since we are here).
These are the answers that we can give to you:
About the weather we are sorry but we think you are very unlucky…in Italy nearly nothing works but we have the sun as consolation…
Dealing with the food we can give you our Italian opinion (that we think is very important in this field), well, German food is not so bad as we thought !!
But fortunately German people are very nice so you gain all the points lost for the food.
We want to thank everyone for the organization…
Thank you very much we will never miss you

This was the first meeting for us and we enjoyed it.
Most of the people arrived at the main train station at seven o’clock in the evening. We all were very nervous, because we didn’t know our guests before.
We had fun to listen to the different presentations and to learn something about the different countries and the opinion professional life. In some presentations they changed to fast the pages and we can’t finish reading.
We were exited to talk to the pupils of the other countries.
The time was too short and we would prefer to have more time to get known by the new pupils. It was very interesting to learn something about the different cultures.

Since the first Comenius meeting in Nîmes I’ve “fallen in love” with the work and the atmosphere of this project. It was a great experience for me to take part in this European teamwork. I’m really glad to see it works well and I’d like to continue the work and keep contacts. We are all like a big family, the friendship which has grown so much is really important for me.
The meeting in Germany in December 2005 is a pleasure again because it’s very nice to see all the old, good friends here. On the first day of the meeting we have discussed again the most significant factors of the education. It was very interesting for me to get information about the “images and ideas” of the members of the partner-schools about the graduation and studying in a university. In my opinion it is important that students have an idea or at least motivation to have an idea about their adult-age during these years in the secondary school. I have experienced that what are the occupation-interests of the young generation.

We have just arrived in Germany and we stayed a little time to give you a specific description of my impressions…I can give you only my first impression and I have to say…good! D:
Since the moment I’ve arrived at the airport I was able to say that it’s a very nice and developed country…looking at Frankfurt it’s such impossible not to say that! Then Hanau, the typical town to which I thought when I was a child listening to the fantastic tales my mother narrated to me to make me sleeping…the “Fachwerkhäuser”, the special atmosphere of Christmas,

the “Wurst”the hot wine with sugar…the “Glühwein” and the Christmas Market…it was like to be in a tale…but it finished when I had my first day at school :
My dream ended but I met very nice people and I could know news about other school systems, the Swedish one. We showed our works done before the meeting and the we had also games together…a nice idea but I still can’t understand the game’s rule: P
The only bad thing is that after lunch, at my home I’m used to go sleeping a little at home in my bed…but here I have to stay here writing those things for you :P
Everything for the Comenius project: P
I think it’s enough for me…now it’s time to go relaxing a little!!!

Dear Jutta,
Thank you for hospitality sensibility and the wonderful atmosphere you and the German friends were able to create in Hanau. The students are very happy and they talk of their splendid German experience with their classmates. The meeting in Hanau was really unforgettable, the Comenius team is perfect.
Thank you to all of you and a special regards to Francisca and Siggi.
